Yes, some young girls and slender women have visible gaps between their thighs. This my friend, is mostly due to a skeletal (bone) structure that involves the heads of the femurs (thigh bones) to sit quite wide apart in the pelvis (which will also be quite broad) and the femurs then slant notably inward. This is in fact the structure of most women’s skeletons but more pronounced in those with a visible “thigh gap”. It is also typically seen on an Ectomorph which is a body type that naturally carries less body fat and muscle than the other body types!
” An Ectomorph has the body type that is most often seen in the pages of fashion magazines. They are slim boned, long limbed, lithe and have very little body fat and little muscle. Ectomorphs tend to have fragile, delicately built bodies and find it difficult to gain weight or add muscle. Supermodels, ballerinas and basketball players most commonly fall into this group.”
Let me put it this way. If you are a Mesomorph (hour-glass, strong, athletic, naturally lean and compact body) or Endomorph (pear-shaped, round, curvy and soft body) … You will probably NEVER have a thigh gap. Sorry. Unless you are an Ectomorph with a very pronounced hip to knee ratio and carrying very little body fat and muscle… You aint never gonna have a “thigh gap” honey child.
Come to terms with it as soon as you can because writing “must have a thigh gap in the next 6 months” up on your vision board is going to be a very painful and probably dangerous thing to try and achieve!
I’m handing out some tough love here because I couldn’t agree more with a dear friend of mine who had this to say about this picture on my Instagram…
Puts things into perspective, huh?
(The video is hilarious! you should watch it.)
This little “thigh gap” rant is going to turn into another blog post which I’ll post in the next few weeks because I don’t want to subject you to a full hours’ worth of reading. I think you’re getting the gist of what I’m trying to say though.
You will not be more worthy of love, attention, success, admiration or more desired once you’ve achieved a physique you might actually NEVER have, because of things you can never change! I.e. your skeleton!
You are already worthy of all those things.
That’s right. You are already worthy. Because you are amazing, beautiful, talented, fierce, strong, capable, loved, acknowledged, successful, admired and desired already… Just the way you are! Embrace your shape and the skeleton you were born with.
You are lucky that you can move, play, talk, think and make your own choices in this life, so please… please stop trying to be anything other than the best version of YOURSELF.
